Founded in 2001 by the talented Oakland hip hop artist, writer, producer, and director Corey Johnson, alongside Bay Area educator and superintendent Itoco Garcia Ed.D to provide new ways of teaching and faculty training, Since it's inception HHS has been a pioneer in HipHop Education for schools and programs nationwide.

HipHop Scholastics is more than just curriculum. We offer a unique approach that equips teachers, principals, and school staff with the mindset and tools needed to integrate hip hop and hip hop culture into schools and classrooms. Our aim is to create school environments that affirm and validate students and their families and teachers. A new way of teaching and a new way of seeing each other in the classroom to bridge education in ways never before seen possible. This is Hip Hop Scholastics!
